Bleu Vertige

It all begins on the open sea, with entire days spent contemplating the infinite, dreaming of distant horizons. From this introspective adventure was born a desire: to transform these maritime stories into a collective and immersive experience.

Bleu Vertige, it's a crew of artists, sailors, and enthusiasts, united to blend art and nautical exploration. Founded by la Pangée and the Compagnie Lucioles, The collective creates performance boats and traveling projects blending music, dance, acrobatics, painting, theater, and participatory workshops. The crew sails on the Telenn, a 12-ton sailboat, 11 meters long and 13 meters high. It is labeled as an Heritage Interest Boat.

In 2023, the crew set sail for a Portuguese tour called "ENCONTRO." Departing from the tip of Finistère, we stopped in the ports of Bordeaux, Viana do Castelo, Porto, and Lisbon, where hundreds of people, seated on the quays, were able to enjoy the show for free in each city. Workshops and partnerships with socio-cultural organizations allowed us to welcome young people aboard the boat, and about thirty people participated in the project by following the route by bike, train, and car. We even met the crew of another sailboat who decided to join our flotilla!

In September 2024, we set sail again with a more local tour, around Douarnenez, the home port of the Telenn. Collaboration with local organizations and residents was central to the project. Beyond the four performances of the showboat, the Bleu Vertige crew organized 15 workshops with schools and social and healthcare facilities, eight boat tours, two "floating cabarets," and a group hike along the GR34 coastal path to discover the natural and cultural heritage of Finistère. All these activities punctuated this traveling project, which brought together more than 2,000 people over the three weeks of sailing.

Keen to bridge the gap between maritime and terrestrial narratives, the crew decided to reimagine this floating stage… and make it roll! Our young sailors salvaged a wrecked boat, breathing new life into it and transforming it into a float and a stage. After months of collaborative work, a new addition has joined the crew: the Wandering Boat! This mysterious creature has already emerged from the water four times to participate in carnivals in the Gironde region, and it seems to be enjoying being on dry land…

Bleu Vertige today, it's a multifaceted collective conceived as a traveling artistic laboratory, constantly exploring new ways to tell stories, share, and bring people together. The crew organizes carbon-neutral tours, carnival-like processions, costumed micro-festivals, and various workshops to reinvent our connections to places and to others. Each stop is a new experiment, each project an invitation to navigate between reality and imagination.
